How To Disable Recent Apps Button In Android
-
Hi guys so i have a s6, and my recent app button works automatically without me touching it.
If i touch the button it doesnt work.
If i touch the back the button it works and both the lights on the side buttons work.
But if i touch the recent apps button it doesnt work.It will automatially work by itself and it does so to the point where i can use my phone, it keeps bringing up recent apps, split screen view, i cant even use my phone because the menu button keeps automatically pressing/working by itself. I dont know what caused this...how do i fix this?

Clears the app cache in Settings. If that doesn't work, clear the cache partition.

First of all reboot the phone, then Install CCleaner app and clean all the cache. Install shutapp to turn off the apps you don't need, whitelist the apps you use regularly. See if that helps.

Guys I found a solution to it (hopefully I'm not too late!) It appears that the problem is due to water or other liquids disrupting the funcionality of the buttons. My recent apps button and split screen feature went crazy after my phone dropped into a puddle. However, after days of painful searching I've read a comment on youtube saying that the solution is to download an app called "All in one gestures". In this app you can choose the functions for all your buttons (but first enable the app in the accessibility tab in your settings). You can disable the recent apps button by selecting "No Action".
The whole problem originated in the recent apps button because after I experimented and selected various different functions for it, the functions themselves went crazy. So it's not technically a software issue it is the button itself.
Hope that helps!

I've had this issue on my S6 after my phone dropped in snow for only 5 mins. sometimes phone is unusable because the windows keep popping up. I downloaded Simple Control and it's not 100% but recent apps view Comes up automatically less. App allows you to disable the button but I can still click on it. To fix split screen popping up, I downloaded multiwindow toggle and you can turn it off. fingers crossed this continues to work for me because it's extremely irritating.

Thank you so much for your post and suggestion.
I accidentally dropped my phone for just few seconds in the spa and the same problem started after few days. I tried many tricks with no help. my phone was pretty much unusable due to recent apps automatically popping up on the screen and I was about to get a new phone $$$.
Your solution seems to have fixed the problem!
Thank you very very much...02-08-2018 02:21 AM
